Expert Reviews

What experts liked

We really like the IQAir AirVisual Pro, which has an easy-to-read display screen. It can measure air quality indoors and outdoors at the same time.
The IQAir Airvisual Pro easily connected to our Wi-Fi. Its app is clearly laid out, and both the app and the device offer simple, practical advice on how to address indoor air quality issues (for example, open a window if the outdoor air quality is good).
Was easy enough to set up. Able to run on electricity or battery power, the small unit has a distinct Jetsons vibe to it. It immediately detected my location and linked me to an outdoor testing site. The home screen would display my indoor AQI – which was well within the green, or good, zone but with a higher-than-desirable CO2 level – next to our outdoor AQI.
Not only does it has a great interface, it also has great, high-quality sensors. In fact, its PM 2.5 sensor can measure as low as 0.3 microns of particulate matter size. It also has excellent wireless connectivity and boasts the top app for air quality monitors. The app for the device is rated #1 out of all air quality apps. Much of the same information that is visible on the device is also visible on the app.
The expert in monitoring both indoor and outdoor air. This air quality tester can accurately compare the temperature between the indoor and outdoor; then provides the humidity that you need. On top of that, it shows the real-time temperature of the outdoor too.
Cleverly employs laser technology and basic artificial intelligence to deliver precise results about your immediate environment in real time. It also compares your indoor air quality with that outside. Bright, attractive screen.
This product surpasses the best indoor air quality meters by providing accurate, detaled, and usable data and displaying it in a user-friendly way. It has professional-grade sensors that use laser technology.
The third screen gives you a forecast for the next few days. This is useful if you are planning any outdoor activities at the weekend like camping or running in a marathon. Air pollution is not always just about traffic jams. It has a lot to do with weather conditions. One thing that I noticed from observing the statistics over a period of a few weeks was that the AQI level wasn’t always peaking during the rush hour periods, which is what I had expected.
Provides recommendations and alerts that are personally catered to your home and lifestyle. It can also be integrated with IFTTT (If This, Then That) smart home devices for seamless operation and easy reading and display.
It is easy to set up and pair it with the native AirVisual app, which you can find both in google and apple app store. The most beautiful thing about this air quality monitor is you can add your city, and you can observe the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Outdoor Air Quality (AQI) side by side on its large bright screen at the same time. Air visual Pro has some artificial intelligence (AI) that notifies you when to close the window, or you need to turn on the air purifier based on the indoor air quality. The weather forecast display on the screen is helpful.

What experts didn't like

But the device’s physical interface is a clunky, frustrating experience. And the machine is simply far too expensive. For $270, you should get more than PM2.5 and CO2 measurements (plus humidity and temperature, which aren’t strictly air quality measurements). Put another way: For a lot less than $270, our picks offer a lot more functionality and value.
Outdoor readings are subject to monitoring stations, which may not be in your immediate area or may not provide a complete picture of respiratory concerns.
If you are not near a power source the battery in the device only lasts 3.5 hours.
Some have had struggles connecting their device to the wifi.
No Google Assistant or Alexa Support. Fewer sensors. Expensive.
