From The Manufacturer

Instant Pot Ultra 10 In 1 Multi-Use Programmable Cooker is the next generation in kitchen appliances. Designed for the home chef looking for a greater degree of customization and control for even greater precision cooking. The Ultra combines the functions of a Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice/Porridge Cooker, Cake Maker, Yogurt Maker, Saute/Searing, Steamer, Warmer, Sterilizer, and, a truly new and unique feature, the Ultra program. The ‘Ultra’ provides complete custom programming for pressure and non-pressure cooking. Now, one can set the exact parameters desired to achieve perfect results each and every time. With the ‘Altitude’ adjustment, the guesswork is eliminated from a recipe conversion providing a more precise cooking time. Designed with a large, blue LCD display with a ‘Cooking Indicator’ to provide one a clear visual on the progress of your dish from preheating, cooking, and Keep Warm. A central dial with a simple turn and press provides added precision in program selection and adjustments. And, the new – ‘Steam Release Reset Button’ ensures the safer handling of the steam release after cooking is completed. Built with 16 smart programs: Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Cake, Egg, Slow Cook, Saute/Searing, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Sterilize, Yogurt, Warm, Pressure Cook, and Ultra. Now, your favorite dishes are as simple as selecting your preferences and having them ready up to 70% faster. With the ‘Sterilize’ program one can pasteurize dairy products, sterilize baby bottles, jars, and utensils; as well as, perform certain types of canning much more conveniently than ever before! The ‘Cake Maker’ is designed to prepare soft and moist cakes and the ‘Egg’ prepares perfect eggs in just a few minutes. America’s most trusted brand has moved into a category of its own with the Instant Pot Ultra! Delay Start time – Up to 24 hours. How It Works: The microprocessor carefully runs lab-tested algorithms to control the time, cooking pressure and temperature to ensure consistent cooking results. Users can customize these settings to control pressure level, adjust cooking time and a cancel button, allowing one to achieve their preferred cooking results. For instance, the “meat/stew” key is programmed to prepare perfectly tender, thoroughly heated meat dishes; however, users can attain fall-off-the-bone results by adjusting the cooking time. The fully sealed environment traps the flavors, nutrients, and aromas of the food instead of releasing them throughout the home. During pressure-cooking, heat is distributed evenly, deeply and quickly once pressure is built. In addition, minimal water is required for steaming so vitamins and minerals are not leached or dissolved. As a result, greens retain their bright colors and phytonutrients, meats and bones are thoroughly cooked yet tender, and whole grains and beans are soft and delicious, all with remarkable consistency. Designed to cater to varying tastes and food conditions, Ultra has adjustable settings to achieve one’s desired cooking results; 3 temperatures in ‘Sauté’ for searing, simmering or thickening for a maximum time of 30 minutes, and 3 temperatures in ‘Slow Cook’ to complete the tasks of a common slow cooker, ‘Keep Warm’, and 3 temperatures in ‘Warm’ to preheat food. The 24-hour delay start allows users to postpone the cooking start to have dinner ready when you are. Automatic ‘Keep Warm’ holds the temperature of the meal until you are ready to serve. With the Ultra, one can easily turn the ‘Keep Warm’ function ON/OFF.

Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Stands out for offering 10 functions in one handy appliance including a pressure cooker, steamer, and sterilizer. Has more capabilities than other models in the Instant Pot family.
Has a bigger LCD screen that’s easy to read and displays a graph showing what’s happening inside the pot (preheat, pressure cook, keep warm)
Can replace 10 kitchen appliances: pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, cake maker, yogurt maker, egg maker, steamer, sauté, sterilizer and warmer
From the packaging to the new look, new design, and new features, it’s an exciting new electric pressure cooker that cooks well. We especially love the flexibility and versatility of the customization.
The Ultra has a large LCD display with progress indicators, a steam release button for easier manual pressure releasing, and it has a dial that toggles between the different programs.
The Ultra was the best model at replicating a slow cooker, so it should be easy to use this model without adapting recipes
Choosing a program on the ULTRA, is kind of fun. You just spin the wheel until you get to the program or function you want.
You can specify temperature to a single degree from 104 to 208 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also dial in specific values for cooking time, pressure level and delay time.
You will definitely enjoy is the useful LED display. It’s bright and easy to read. Although it does take a little time to get used to maneuvering around the panel, the dial always offers easy access and adjustability.
Comes so clean in the dishwasher...use it constantly to steam fish.
Other useful bonus features include an indicator screen that shows you where you are in the cooking process, a sleek-looking dial, and a quick pressure release button.
The benefits of Instant Pot Ultra 6 Qt 10-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker are quite obvious and straightforward. This is one of the best kitchen appliances available in the market and can replace 10 common appliances saving more space and money.
This is the easiest thing on a weeknight (or for meal-prep): Put a pound of seasoned boneless, skinless chicken breast in the Instant Pot, cover with a cup of your favorite salsa, then cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.
The Instant Pot Ultra boasts of a greater flexibility and versatility than ever before. It can serve as many functions as you want, if only you wish to go ahead and give it a try.
The biggest change with the Ultra is the new dial. You use the dial to select the cooking program, select the time, and make adjustments. You turn the dial and press to select a program, or make an adjustment to time or other settings.
The biggest physical differences with the Ultra is the front panel and pressure release button on top.
The Instant Pot Ultra features a dial knob for adjusting settings, along with preset buttons, to make this unit very easy to use. Special features in this model include altitude adjustment, a cooking indicator, and a safety-improved steam release button.
It has 16 built-in smart programs that make you cook versatile food every other day. You can cook your favorite meal 70% faster than other stovetop pressure cooker. It saves energy as well as locks the nutrients and aroma into the food.
The AUTO-SET Pressure Valve is one of my favorite features in the ULTRA. Once I set my time and pressure, I press START and that’s it. The pressure valve automatically seals and the pressure cooking process starts. LOVE IT! It’s most appreciated by my kids and hubby, who don’t use the Instant Pot on a daily basis, so tendency to forget to turn that valve is way higher.
Things I like: Altitude setting makes it easier to use the ultra pot in all conditions, at all places. You can even carry it to a different country if you are traveling.
I used the Ultra as my daily driver for a few months. I got comfortable enough with the interface that I did not overshoot too often, or turn clockwise when I needed to go counter-clockwise.
Large blue LCD display – It's attractive and has some new features including a visual to let you know what point of pressurizing, cooking, or pressure releasing you are currently experiencing.

What reviewers didn't like

The downside of all the added functions is a slightly higher price and a bit of a learning curve in figuring out how to use them.
The instructions for changing the settings are lacking, so you may want to do some internet research for instructions by experienced users instead.
Unfortunately, Instant Pot does not provide any information on how this function is supposed to be used. Instant Pot could not cite data, guidelines or research sourced to come up with the ULTRA’s recommended sterilization processing times, temperatures and pressures
Surprisingly, there’s no instructions on how to use the machine. You have to rely on bloggers or other people on the internet to get the hang of it.
We don’t like the lack of extreme versatility. While the Instant Pot Ultra is very versatile, it is not the most versatile in the industry. This model lacks some special features that we would like to see improved such as the temperature setting.
Not everything with the IP is a breeze. It took me several tries to get hard-boiled eggs right, and sometimes recipes take longer than expected when something is a "natural release" meaning, you wait for the machine to release steam and de-pressurize on its own, rather than forcing the steam out with the "quick release" button.
The greatest negative is perhaps the price. That would be a con for anyone on a tight budget.
As the “full-loaded” model, it lacks Bluetooth functionality.
Very different from the standard Instant Pots; recipes may need revisions to compensate.
The ultra mode of ultra Instant pot is actually the same as the manual mode in other models of the Instant pot. It’s not at all a new thing that has to be priced for. I know it’s not lacking; it’s just my personal opinion about this model.
