What experts liked

Can heat water from 104 to 195 degrees. Accurate within 1 degree. Offers a clear, easy-to-read display and touchscreen controls. Durable design features stainless steel and a comfortable rubber handle. Can be used with or without an Instant Pot.
- BestReviews
This product is, quite literally, the definition of an affordable sous vide immersion cooker. It has the typical stainless steel skirt and hard-shelled plastic covering for the electrical components. One major upside to this immersion cooker is its brand integration with other Instant Pot products. If, like many, you’ve received an Instant Pot then this circulator can clamp directly onto the side.
- Sous Vide Guy
The top of the unit is made of sturdy polycarbonate and the portion in the bath is stainless steel. Perhaps the greatest feature of the Accu Slim is its low cost. Occasionally, some other immersion circulators will be on sale for a similar price, but the Accu Slim is one of the few circulators with a consistently low price.
- Amazing Food Made Easy
One of the things I immediately noticed about the Accu Slim was the skirt surrounding the heating element contains holes around the sides, and it also contains holes on the bottom. This helps the water flow more effectively through the machine, and it helps to prevent cold spots.
- Digital Trends
Actually, one of the things I really liked about the Instant Pot Immersion circulator was the clear, bright button on the face of the device. Surprisingly, more than one other circulator I tested had low-lit button which made it hard to read and navigate. It's also got a nice anti-glare finish on the screen much like the Anova, and matte-finish black casing.
- Food For Net
Of the affordable immersion circulators that we tested, the Accu Slim performed the best. It's a bare-bones machine with a simply display interface—no bells and whistles, no paired app, no Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity—but that's what makes it appealing and such a great deal. It knows its lane and keeps to it, performing the essential task of an immersion circulator quite well: heating and circulating water at a precise temperature.
- Serious Eats
It did do a very good job of maintaining temperature in our evaluation. The Accu Slim' temperature stability and its speed at recovering the set temperature once food was added that impressed us the most.
- Tech Gear Lab
Our pick for the best small circulator under $100 is the Instant Pot Accu Slim. It's small enough to fit in most drawers and it still has a control panel (making it still not as small as the Joule, but pretty close). Small and slim, with a straight shaft and angled head for easy reading from across a room. It has a removable stainless shaft for easy cleaning and a bright LED readout. The all digital controls are easy to use.
- The Rational Kitchen
If you're already a fan of Instant Pot, then you might want to add this tool to your cooking arsenal. This easy-to-use Instant Pot sous vide creates and maintains an even and accurately controlled cooking water-bath for perfect cooking results, according to the brand.
- Today
Designed to transform your humble and Instant Pot electric pressure cooker into a new sous vide machine. You can use it for creating amazing meat, seafood, vegetable-based dishes as well as fruits and desserts. It evenly distributes the heat across the water to make sure there are no burnt edges or rare centers.
- Just 4 Foodies
For restaurant-quality cooking in the comfort of your home, the Instant Pot Accu Slim Sous Vide is the ideal tool for the job. You can cook at precise temperatures with ease, ensuring a flavorful and perfectly cooked dish each time. And, you don’t need a whole collection of high-end equipment to make it happen. Easy to view touch-screen information and accessible controls make for quick checks. Rather than hovering over your Instant Pot, you can set the temperature and time and come back later.

What experts didn't like

Some users find it doesn't heat the water uniformly so there may be cold spots.
- BestReviews
One issue we experienced with this unit was, unfortunately, quality of shipping. There were numerous scratches and scuffs on the LCD display. This is after pulling off the plastic tab on the screen. Somehow, the unit must have been damaged sometime between manufacturing and packaging. During our test cook we found that our pork chops were slightly underdone, despite following InstantPot’s cooking guide. This may indicate that the Instant Pot sous vide Immersion Circulator’s ability to retain heat balance as an issue.
- Sous Vide Guy
The Accu Slim is much more restricted as to the size of water bath container it can be used with.
- Amazing Food Made Easy
It doesn’t give you some of the smart features like you’d get with more expensive immersion circulators like the Anova Wi-Fi or the ChefSteps Joule. It doesn’t connect to an app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so you can’t control it with your phone, nor can you voice-control the device using Alexa or Google Assistant.
- Digital Trends
Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations for the Instant Pot brand or the price it was selling at. It cooked the food accurately, and there are some definite advantages to this model over other brands, but my main disappointment was that it offered basic features for a premium price.
- Food For Net
Costs a bit more than other products that we scored much higher. This sous vide machine delivered one of the least impressive performances we have seen to date in our circulation tests and we found it to be far from the most user-friendly model we have tested to date. Far from the most accurate or the fastest to heat compared to the other models we tested.
- Tech Gear Lab
The design isn't as sleek as Joule. The sacrifice you make with choosing a small model is that it's usually not as powerful as some of the larger ones. You'll have to settle for 800W instead of 1000W or even 1200W, which can make heating water significantly slower (see our discussion above about power). The Accu Slim by Instant Pot, require that you set the timer to use the device. We find this utterly ridiculous, and antithetical to the whole philosophy of sous vide.
- The Rational Kitchen
Doesn’t have Bluetooth or wireless connectivity.
- Just 4 Foodies
Though this is a “slim” sous vide, it’s still large at about 13 inches long and two inches wide at the base. Depending on how many servings you plan to prepare, you might find it challenging to fit food and the device into your Instant Pot. Of course, you can also use a stockpot or similar container if your Instant Pot doesn’t have enough space.

An Overview On Sous Vides For The Home Cook

Sous vide machines are no longer exclusively used by professional chefs in fancy restaurants. Home cooks looking for a new way to add flavor to their favorite meals can now use the sous vide as well. In fact, individuals who are just beginning their culinary journey will appreciate that foods prepared using this method are impossible to overcook, which means your dish will never be dried out and tasteless!

There are several different sous vide for the home cook models on the market. It is important that you examine their features in order to choose a machine that can meet your specific needs.

Start out by inspecting the construction of the sous vide machine. Some are made using durable stainless steel with a rubber coating over their handles, while others feature high-quality plastic. If the unit is made out of plastic, just make sure it is listed as BPA-free. Size may also be important if you reside in a smaller living space. Should this be the case, look for a slim model that fits neatly in a kitchen drawer.

Check the sous vide for the home cook’s pump system next. Some rely on convection currents, while models like the Instant Pot Accu Slim Sous Vide For The Home Cook have their own active pump system to circulate the water and keep it heated evenly. This eliminates any hot or cold spots that may prevent your food from being the same temperature throughout.

Review the power of the sous vide for the home cook next. Units with just 750 watts of power are fine for smaller pots, however, if you have a big family and you need to heat a large pot of water, you’ll need a more powerful motor. An 1100-watt motor is able to heat up your water much faster.

Determine how the sous vide machine operates. For example, the unit may have an LED touchscreen that allows you to set the temperature and timer or it may come with a downloadable app. The app would require you to have access to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The Anova Culinary 750-Watt Culinary Nano Sous Vide is unique, in that, it is actually equipped for both methods of operation.

Look for any bells and whistles that the sous vide for the home cook may have to offer. Some models go above and beyond with 30 smart recipe preset buttons and precision temperature controls. In fact, they even have an accuracy of .01 degrees. Users can set them anywhere from 77 to 211.8 degrees Fahrenheit and program them to cook for up to 99 hours and 99 minutes.

The Sous Vide For The Home Cook Buying Guide

  • Reviewers report that some sous vide for the home cook models can take a while to heat a large pot of water. They also report that certain models have temperature controls that can be spotty.
  • Always check the sous vide’s attached clamp to ensure the pot you want to use meets the minimum height for it to attach properly.
  • Keep an eye on your Wi-Fi while using the sous vide for the home cook. If the Wi-Fi goes out at any time, even for a second, it can cause the wand’s timer to fall out of sync with the timer on the app you’re using.
  • Review the app that comes with the sous vide before you buy if possible. Some of the apps lack the ability to adjust cooking times based on the thickness of the meat you’re preparing. You want to make sure the app has the controls you desire to cook the foods to perfection.
  • Keep in mind that some sous vide models rely solely on your smartphone for operation. You won’t be able to adjust the temperature or timer on the unit itself.
  • Your sous vide for home use can be utilized to prepare more than just meats and vegetables. You can also use the machine to cook yogurt, roulades, custards, purees, cheese curds, oysters, French fries, beef stock, eggnog and even cocktails.
  • It’s good practice to keep your sous vide nice and clean. This task is extremely easy, as you’re using the machine in a water bath with food that remains inside a pouch. All you need to do is grab a lint-free cloth that is extra absorbent and use it to wipe down the inside and outside of the sous vide machine. If you do this after each use, your sous vide will last a long time.
  • You’ll find the sous vide for the home cook comes in a wide range of prices. The price is often dependent upon the design, wattage and the incorporation of today’s technological advances. More basic models have the most affordable price tag. You’ll pay a moderate amount for both the Anova Culinary 750-Watt Culinary Nano Sous Vide and the Instant Pot Accu Slim Sous Vide For The Home Cook. If you’re looking for the top of the line, go with a model that heats up quickly and utilizes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for its operation.
