Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Hill’s Science Diet Adult is a plant-based dry dog food using a modest amount of named meats and meals as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 3 stars. Recommended.
If your dog is not allergic to chicken and he can tolerate pea protein concentrate, then the protein in this food will probably not bother his stomach.

What reviewers didn't like

Below-average protein. Below-average fat. And above-average carbs when compared to a typical dry dog food.
That’s all Science Diet dog food is. It’s basically junk food, like Little Debbie’s cakes. It looks like this brand lives up to its name, because there’s hardly anything natural about Science Diet dog food. This brand is marketed as being “highly recommended by veterinarians”. If those claims are true, then we’re sorry to say that you shouldn’t trust any veterinarian who sells Science Diet dog food in their office, much less recommends them to dog owners.
Overall, Science Diet has relatively low user ratings, and many owners complain that it does not live up to its descriptions and price. Still, others state that their pets have experienced no adverse reactions to the food.
The food does contain a LOT of grain/carbohydrates and some prebiotic fibers which could be helpful for some dogs with sensitive stomachs. In other words, if you are trying to find something for your dog with a sensitive stomach, go ahead and try this food. It might work. But it probably wouldn’t be my first choice.
