Night Light, Sound Machine, and Time-to-Rise Our mission at Hatch Baby is to make raising babies and kids a little bit easier with smart technology. We believe that modern design and thoughtful function can come together to create solutions for the toughest job out there: parenting. Our suite of products, Rest, Grow, and Listen, help give parents the peace of mind they need that their babies are growing into happy, healthy kids. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. Modern. Simple. Personalized. How did you come up with the idea for this product? At Hatch Baby, we’re parents of kids of all ages, and we know how hard it can be to help our children fall asleep and stay asleep. After trying just about everything to help get our kids to sleep, we built Hatch Baby Rest, rolling all the functions we know help little ones sleep best into one modern, functional and beautifully designed device. More than just a night light, sound machine, or OK-to-wake alarm, Rest is the smart, fully customizable and remotely controlled solution designed for babies and kids that grows with their changing sleep needs. What makes your product special? Rest is the all-in-one sleep solution that parents have been wishing existed for years. We know from personal experience how frustrating it is to have a sound machine that can only be controlled from the device itself, or a nightlight that shuts off after a set period of time, only to require sneaking into a sleeping toddler’s room to turn it back on. There had to be a better way than needing multiple gadgets to help create just the right atmosphere to encourage babies and kids to sleep through the night. We knew there was a better way, and that’s why we created Rest. By combining all the functions of a night light, sound machine, and ok-to-wake alert into one beautiful and simple design, and better yet, making it totally controllable from a smartphone, we knew we had the product that so many parents have been asking for. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Hearing from parents who use and love our product has been, hands down, the most inspiring and exciting part of this start-up experience. We knew that we had a great product when our beta testers asked if they could keep their Rests because they had become an integral part of their child’s sleep routine. It’s so rewarding to be building the products that make life a little easier for parents.

An Overview On Night Lights
Whether you want to avoid tripping on a toy in the hallway on your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night or you want to give your child a little extra security at bedtime, a night light is the way to go. Before you purchase a set of night lights, you’ll want to keep the following features in mind.
Check how energy efficient the night light is. Night lights that use LED lights last a long time and tend to cost just a few cents per year to run.
Determine the size of the night light. Many models are so large that they take up the space of both of the receptacles in the outlet. Consider a set that is compact and only uses one receptacle, so the other is left free for charging a tablet or table lamp.
Look at the product packaging to find out whether the night light is manual or automatic. Some models are equipped with a “dusk to dawn” sensor. As soon as the lighting in the home begins to dim, the night light automatically comes on. The opposite is also true. When the light brightens due to the sun or interior lighting, the night light will shut off.
Consider a night light that has extra features, such as the Hatch Baby Sound Machine and Night Light. This model allows users to choose a color for their light, as well as set a background noise to either soothe a child to sleep or gently wake a child in the morning.
The Night Light Buying Guide
- If the night light comes with a product warranty or a satisfaction guarantee, you need to check the length of the coverage. Some of these protections only last 90 days, while others are good for up to a year from the date of purchase.
- Night lights are not waterproof and cannot be used outdoors.
- Look for any third party testings or certifications, such as a CE certification, as this lets you know the product is of a higher quality.
- When comparing night lights, make sure you take a look at how many lights are in the set.
