Expert Reviews

What experts liked

This helmet features a simple design and an easy fit for the rider who prefers the safety and protection of a classic bike helmet without the added bulk or compromised performance. Molded construction helps to minimize the overall weight while an easy one-handed dial adjustment system makes it simple to find the ideal size and fit. The head will stay cool even in warmer weather thanks to a total of 22 vents.
- Heavy
There is ample padding on the inside that is pretty comfortable. The internal shape of the helmet is good too and felt comfortable on my head. This helmet is consistent with other Giro helmets, which seem to suit a wide range of different peoples heads. The padding is also removable, meaning you can wash it if it starts to get smelly and sweaty after several rides – a feature you don't always see on entry level helmets at this price point.
Fit for me was comfortable and a lot better than cheaper helmets that I have worn in the past. In fact, there wasn't a lot to distinguish it from helmets four times the price in this aspect. The fit is helped by borrowing from the premium helmets the Acu Dial system, a single dial you can adjust with one hand for tension around the head. It allows a fine step adjustment to minimise pressure points, and if it does feel too tight, that can be easily remedied on the bike.
This Adult helmet comes in 1 size(s) and rated Excellent in our impact testing. With the number (3) and type of features for adjusting the retention strap, it provides a(n) good ability to customize the fit. And with an approximate weight of 281 grams, the weight of this helmet is considered best relative to other helmets tested.
This helmet does what is says it is a utilitarian helmet and adjustable while fitting comfortable on your head. It provides you with protection when needed the most. It keeps my head cool, especially on hot days as the extra holes on the back keeps your whole head cool and great for me.

What experts didn't like

Runs a bit small. Strap design could be better. Could use more side padding.
- Heavy
Slightly heavy. Retention system is little bulky. The chin strap is different from the standard clip on other helmets. This slide through design is bulkier and heavier.
The vents are smaller and with greater spacing than you'll find on a performance helmet. The weight is more noticeable as you move your head about.
It scratches easy when riding through the woods. It does not have that much padding.
