What experts liked
I particularly love it because it offers the same smooth shave as my regular at-home razor, but the compact size and carrying case make it incredibly easy to pack.
- Travel and Leisure
The Venus Snap is a genius way to easily take your razor on the go without sacrificing quality for portability. It fits in the palm of your hand, but the head still has five blades. Pop one in your gym bag or suitcase, and maintain your super smooth shave wherever you go.
- Best Products
The Snap is beautifully designed and comes in a portable compact that conveniently goes anywhere you might need instant smoothness – from your purse, travel or gym bag to the desk drawer and car.
- BeautyStat Cosmetics
Have you seen this amazing little razor from Gillette? I admit that I’m a razor snob, I only use Venus blades, usually the ones with Olay integrated into them. This small handle works perfectly with my regular Venus blades, but is smaller and easier to pack up.
- 15 Minute Beauty
One of the nice things about the razor is that it will accept any of the Venus line razor heads. That means you can bring multiple spare razor heads for a single trip.
- Lady Light Travel
This razor provides the shave that we’re used to in the comfort of our homes, but in a miniature size that we can easily take on-the-go. Whether we’re traveling or simply want to have a razor in our purse for after the gym, this is a seriously ingenious invention.
- Style Caster
Despite its miniature size, the Gillette Venus Snap does just as good a job of removing hair as its full-size relatives.
- Business Insider
So since there are 5 blades you will get a super close shave!

What experts didn't like
The major negative of the Venus Snap is the lower quality of the razor blades. These are clearly drugstore level blades and I have nicked myself a few times. This usually occurred the first time I used a new blade.
- Lady Light Travel
While the handle is easy to hold, you do need to angle your fingers just right for the best control
- Business Insider
I am not found of the carrying case. I understand that the razor has to be able to dry out but unless you're able to shake all the water off of the blades it won't get trapped in the carrying case.

An Overview On Women's Razors

The human body has five million hair follicles. That’s a lot of shaving, which means a quality razor is a must! With so many different types of women’s razors on the market, it can be hard to choose one. Here are a few tips to help you find the razor that will best meet your needs.

Decide if you’re looking for one razor that can do everything or a razor that is specific to one area of the body. For example, the hairs on your face tend to be more fine and the skin more sensitive. You’d be better off with a razor that has blades that are thin and ideal for shaping or shaving select areas on the face.

Consider how often you travel before picking a razor. Women who take a lot of business trips or vacations to see family and friends regularly would do well with a smaller and more portable razor. The BIC Silky Touch Disposable Women’s Razor, 10-Count is cute, colorful, and most importantly, compact. It’s even disposable, so you can toss it once the trip comes to an end.

Look for a razor with stainless steel blades that provide a close shave. Blades that are curved and come with skin guards are ideal, as they work with your body and help protect against skin irritation. There are also electric models, which have floating foil heads to shave any shorter hairs that aren’t cut by the bigger blades.

Check for a moisture strip next. Keeping your skin hydrated is important and many models have moisture ribbons or strips above and below the razor blades. Often these ribbons contain all-natural ingredients that are known to hydrate and soothe the skin, such as shea butter, aloe and vitamin E.

Keep an eye out for any extra features the razor may offer. The razor may come with a safety cover or a carrying case. The Schick Intuition Aloe Sensitive Care Women’s Razor has an ergonomic handle that makes it comfortable to hold. The handle is also made using a rubber that provides a good grip. That way if you’re shaving under running water, your hands won’t slip.

DWYM Fun Fact

Did you know that human hair grows at a rate of one centimeter per month? While men may opt to grow their hair out, many women prefer to keep their armpits and legs free of hair. Here are a few interesting facts you may not know about shaving:

  • Some of the first razors were made from clam shells and shark teeth.
  • It was during the 1700s that straight razors began to be used, although they were mostly found in barbershops.
  • In 1860 the words “clean-shaven” were entered into the English dictionary.
  • In Ancient Egypt, cat owners would shave off their eyebrows to mourn the death of their feline companions.
  • Shave gels weren’t invented and used until the 1970s.

The Women's Razor Buying Guide

  • Storing your razor in the shower is not the best practice. Instead, keep your razor in a clean, dry location, such as your bathroom vanity. Additionally, if your razor comes with a carrying case, you’ll need to make sure the blades have completely dried out before you store them in the case. Otherwise, they are at risk of rusting and growing bacteria.
  • If you’re using a razor with blade refills, change the blades anytime you notice rust or you find the razor is dull or tugging on your skin.
  • For the best shave, use warm water and a shaving gel or cream. Try pulling your skin tight and applying a little pressure as you run the razor across your skin. Rinse your skin afterward with warm water and apply a moisturizing lotion to rehydrate the skin.
  • You may also want to exfoliate your skin before you shave to remove any dead skin cells that could clog up your razor. To do this you could use a loofah or an exfoliating body scrub with a washcloth.
  • While you may not find any satisfaction or money-back guarantees with disposable razors, you will find them with electric razors. If the razor doesn’t work as described, contact the company for a replacement or refund.
  • The cost of women’s razors varies greatly depending upon the area of the body the razor is designed for, whether or not the razor is disposable and if the razor is battery operated. You’ll find the Gillette Venus ComfortGlide White Tea Women’s Razor at the lowest end of the price scale and the BIC Silky Touch Disposable Women’s Razor, 10-Count and the Schick Intuition Aloe Sensitive Care Women’s Razor in the middle. The joy Women’s Razor Handle & Razor Blade Refills has the highest price tag because it features a special Lubrastrip and four extra blades.
