Expert Reviews

What experts liked

If you need an inexpensive drone that makes it simple to capture top-tier video, this lightweight model is worth every penny. Featherweight design. Compact.
The drone can take off, land, and return home with the push of a button. It also has a positioning system that’s intelligent enough to hold its location in the air, and its 30-minute battery life is almost as long as that of more expensive models. For a beginner who just wants to start taking photos and videos, the Mavic Mini is a bargain.
Small, light, pocketable drone. Solid camera specs for the price. Excellent 3-axis stabilization. Impressive, nearly 30-minute flying time. No need to register with the FAA. Just plain fun to fly.
- Wired
It offers a generous flight time of 30 minutes, as well as a flight range of about 4000 meters. The Mavic Mini is equipped with a 2.7K FHD 5G Camera that can also stream live video.
Very portable. Easy-to-fly.
Whether you’re interested in your initial drone or your own 5th, should you journey – you want this drone. This item is so modest that it must forever on your luggage while on the street. It just about everyone the features of these top-end drones from DJI but can literally fit in your pocket.
The Mavic Mini is aimed at a particular market. It is fast and quiet. It has an excellent camera and fantastic intelligent flight modes for making flying and filming very easy.
Very small and light. Impressive stabilization and video quality. Despite its small size, though, the Mavic Mini is far from being a toy. You’ll get up to half an hour of flight time, which is better than anything else of a similar size and weight. It also flies better than most other small drones.

What experts didn't like

With its 30 minute battery life, buyers should get a backup battery for longer flights.
Its 2.7K video can’t compete with the video quality of higher-end drones.
USB-A charging. Lack of ActiveTrack mode feels like deliberate crippling. No RAW image capture. So small it can be hard to track in the sky.
- Wired
This package doesn’t include spare battery.
The key sacrifice has been video quality – the Mavic Mini can “only” capture at 2.7k (about half the number of pixels as 4K) and at 40Mbps, so the video has slightly more compression artifacts than that from a Mavic 2 Zoom, for example.
Unfortunately, the DJI Mavic Mini has no Follow Me ActiveTrack modes. This Mavic Mini isn’t waterproof.
No collision-avoidance sensors. Doesn’t record in 4K. strong winds will still be a problem.
