The Cuisinart Brew Central is a brewer that will provide you with years of use. I have many friends who have used this coffee maker for years, and it still runs as good as new.
- Brown's Coffee
The charcoal filters that come with this machine are handy, especially when your taps provide heavy water. Unwanted particles that can affect the coffee’s taste will be filtered out.
- Coffee Dorks
Personally, I like this Cuisinart DCC1200 for the programmable timer. This certainly relives me 1 chore in my hectic morning schedule. I like to preset the time for the coffee maker to auto-brew the next morning before I sleep. And I like it that I don’t have to double check if I have shutdown the coffee machine before I leave the house for work. Its auto shutdown function will activate after the last brew. And I can program this activation time up to 4 hours after the last brew.
- Espresso Machine Picks
Brewing is relatively fast at 5 minutes for four cups of coffee, so a full pot (12 cups) should take about 15 minutes. Virtually all of the reports on the actual taste of the coffee brewed by the Cuisinart Brew Central say that it’s somewhere between “very good” and “great,” especially in comparison to cheaper coffee makers. Many owners report that this unit does, indeed, justify its price tag on taste alone.
- Buy/Don't Buy
The Cuisinart Brew Central also lets you control how long your coffee is kept warm and how warm it’s kept, using the adjustable temperature control, which I love! My old coffee maker had one warming setting and that was lukewarm, and I hated needing an extra cup after it had cooled down. You can also choose how long the pot will stay hot for after the brewing is done.

What experts didn't like

Some customers noted design issues with carafe.
- BestReviews
The Brew Central is a little on the heavy side at 6.8 pounds.
- Brown's Coffee
Bulky and heavy. No LCD screen.
- Coffee Dorks
Heavy. It doesn’t come with a grinder.
- Espresso Machine Picks
A few customers have complained that the wire mesh filter can be difficult to clean, so some buyers may choose to continue to use paper filters. It is possible that difficulty in cleaning the filter could be the result of using coffee that is too finely ground.
- Buy/Don't Buy
But it made coffee that tasted dull in comparison with the brews made by the $150-plus machines we tested.
- The New York Times
The biggest downside of this device is that those little dials and their ridged design can and does collect dirt and spilled coffee grounds.

An Overview On Brew Central, 12 Cup

Cuisinart coffee makers are full of features and are made in sizes that serve up to 14 cups. Their Brew Central line of products has modern brewing technology features like brew pause (allowing you to grab a cup while the coffee is brewing), variable heater plates and programmable timers. The auto shut-off and warming functions are also great for busy coffee-drinkers.

There are a few different Brew Central models, and you can also find pre-owned versions that cost less and come with guarantees. The colors include silver, stainless steel, black and brushed chrome. They also come in different sizes as well. Brew Central coffee makers also have dishwasher-safe coffee pots to make cleanup easier.

When shopping for coffee makers, decide which size you need and the features you want. For some, brew pause is not necessary; others cannot live without it. If you like to drink your coffee throughout the day, that warming function is a must.

Cuisinart is considered to be one of the more reliable brands, but keep in mind that coffee makers do not last forever. Regular cleanings and replacing the coffee carafe can make them last longer.

The Brew Central, 12 Cup Buying Guide

  • Brew Central product description pages include the coffee maker’s dimensions, so take this into consideration before buying.
  • Don’t place a coffee maker right under a cabinet, because the steam can damage it over time.
  • Program the coffee maker the night before, and you can wake up to hot, great-smelling coffee. Once you set up the time, all you need to do is add coffee, add water and press a button.
  • Clean out the coffee pot from time to time with vinegar for a cleaner taste.
