Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Ultra-lightweight protection provided by full seam sealing and Omni-tech fabric. Jacket folds into itself for easy storage and packing.
Our favorite of the more budget-oriented models on the market. It fits well, looks sharp, provides good mobility, and — most importantly — will keep you dry. The Watertight II is built for the budget-conscious and is a perfect everyday option for short hikes, drizzly early morning dog walks, and yard work. It's light enough for longer hikes and backpacking trips.
Its approachable price, durable construction, and extended range of sizes make it a staple for casual outings, commuting, and the occasional rainy-day hike.
A great little jacket that I think is perfect for a beginner hiker. The main reason for that statement is it's simple but effective functionality for a very reasonable price. It will double up nicely to be worn about the city and has all the basic features I would expect from a rain jacket. If you're just starting out or if you are an intermittent hiker, this could be the jacket for you.
You have three external zippered pockets (two at sides and one on the chest) and an internal pocket. The outer pockets are with storm flaps, and the same is with the front zipper. This is a clever design: the jacket can be packed in its own internal pocket.

What reviewers didn't like

Runs a little large. Many consumers would prefer a removable hood.
The DWR will need maintenance over time. After a few hikes, areas that are vulnerable to wear — primarily the forearms and shoulders — were losing their DWR and beginning to wet out.
The jacket isn’t a standout in wet-weather performance—you’ll need to spend up for that. During heavy bouts of rain, the jacket eventually soaked through at the seams.
No Napoleon breast pocket.
There are no pit zips. Not Ripstop.
