Expert Reviews

What experts liked

Safe on wool as well as many other carpet fibers. Works well on pet stains. Cleans carpets dry, without a shampooing machine or having to wait for extensive dry times.
Unlike the wet carpet cleaning product, the Capture carpet cleaning powder prevents the moisture from seeping into the carpet fabric. Hence, inhibiting the growth of micro-organism and the prevalence of diseases.
Its functionality extends over to the removal of moisture from pets and unpleasant odors even in places with high traffic.
- Fabric
Ideal for removing stains from liquids. In addition to cleaning stains, it soaks up any moisture, preventing the growth or bacteria, mold and other allergens. Plus, for a relatively low price tag, you get a whopping four pounds of product—which can cover about 400 square feet of carpeted area or area rugs.
I was happy with the results and even purchasing as much of the product as I did, it still rang in at about 1/3 - 1/4 the cost of a traditional carpet cleaner would have been.
If your carpets do not get a lot of stains or you clean them regularly you can simply use the dry carpet cleaner by itself to maintain your carpets and keep them looking and smelling fresh.

What experts didn't like

For best results, you may need to buy a separate spray product to use with this powder.
The product odor is not pleasant.
Inappropriate in places experienced high humidity.
- Fabric
A few customers complained about the product’s smell.
If you have heavily soiled carpet, it hasn't been cleaned for 10 years or it's unusually trampled, smelly or have pet accidents I'd go with a traditional carpet cleaning first.
Of the disadvantages that consumers listed for Capture dry carpet cleaner the most worrisome is that it is difficult, if not impossible, to discover what chemicals this product contains. For those who have allergies, asthma, or simply want to go as green as possible, this omission may cause them to avoid using this product.

Overview

Carpets and rugs help your home look cozy and inviting. They can pull the room together, add a pop of color and showcase your interior design style. However, it’s important to keep rugs looking clean so that they don’t affect your allergies and keep your home free from germs. Dirt from shoes, environmental pollution and pet dander can all seep into rugs, as can spills and stains from food and drinks. A stained rug can ruin the look of your room entirely.

There are many different types of rug cleaning products available that you can try. Some rug cleaning products are a powder form which you sprinkle onto the rug. The powder can help to remove certain kinds of dirt and stains and is then vacuumed up. You can also use rug foams and shampoos to wash the rug or spot clean to get out stubborn stains. Sometimes these will need to be rinsed with a wet rag while other types will need to be vacuumed. There are specialty carpet cleaning brushes also available that are designed to help you scrub out stains and dirt from your rugs.
