The Canon SX540 still embodies a nice 50x optical zoom, packed in a relatively small body.

The integrated stabilizer allows you to shoot firmly even in low light conditions.

What reviewers didn't like

Some users are not happy that the camera lacks a viewfinder, but there is a screen on the back which serves the same purpose.
As for battery life, you will only get 205 shots out of a single charge before you need to re-charge it.
Speed is so-so at 5.9 fps and a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000.
Canon PowerShot SX540 HS is not a tropicalized camera. If you use it in adverse conditions, you could ruin it.
