What reviewers liked

We were similarly impressed with the T7i’s video mode, thanks to Dual Pixel autofocus (DPAF). As the T7i is geared for beginners and first-time DSLR buyers, it may be worth a quick explanation of how autofocus works on these cameras and why DPAF is so important. When using an optical viewfinder, focus is achieved on a dedicated focusing sensor (in this case, one with 45 points), which uses an efficient type of autofocus known as phase detection.
It has fast 45-point autofocus system.
Thanks to the T7i's vari-angle, 3-inch LCD, it's easier to shoot overhead or at low angles than with a fixed LCD.
It has 45-point cross-type autofocus system.

What makes the T7i really stand out for casual shooters is how consistent the shooting experience is, regardless of whether you shoot through the optical viewfinder or in live view, using the rear screen.
It has 45-point cross-type autofocus system.
The Canon EOS Rebel T7i/800D delivers reasonable photo and video quality and respectable performance in a time-tested body.

The biggest advantage of the T7i is its new autofocus system. With 45 cross-type AF points for shooting stills through the viewfinder, the T7i represents a notable upgrade from the T5i’s nine-point system. It covers a wider area of the frame, but more important, the extra points help when you’re using tracking AF on a moving subject, such as a soccer player or a seagull.

What reviewers didn't like

The viewfinder is woefully small, with just 0.82x magnification and 95-percent coverage compared to the 80D’s at 0.95x magnification and 100-percent coverage. For anyone familiar with higher-end cameras, the T7i does come across as feeling a bit cheap; but that feeling all but vanishes when you look at the pictures it takes.
The video is limited to 1080p only.
Slightly larger and heavier than the competition.
The video is limited to 1080p only.
- PC Mag
The camera is a little bit limited in spec terms: it only offers 1080p video and either auto everything or full manual.
Default JPEGs slightly soft straight out of camera.
Relatively large compared to other cameras in its class and its photos aren't as sharp as competitors'.
