Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

It's balanced and mild flavor makes it an easy choice for nearly anything we are planning to cook, regardless of the method.
100 percent pure and made from cold-pressed olives. Smooth flavor with herbal notes. Approved by the Olive Oil Commission of California.
California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil is my go-to for homemade salad dressing and making dipping sauces. We fill up a reusable spray container for spraying pans that go on the stovetop and in the oven! It’s got a smooth flavor and is never overpowering.
By bottling very close to the source, the company cuts out the risk that the oil will oxidize and spoil during transport to another facility. And unlike some producers that sell their oil in clear glass or even plastic bottles, which expose the oil to more damaging light, our winning manufacturer uses dark-green glass bottles that help shield the oil. The upshot of all these factors: fresher and cheaper olive oil.
The fact that it’s produced and bottled in the United States is what drew me in at first, but its versatility is what keeps me going back for more. This is the bottle I reach for each and every night I start cooking. It has a great, buttery taste that delivers just the right amount of peppery kick, so it never competes with what I am cooking. Plus, while I usually lean towards a stronger-flavored finishing olive oil for salads and bread dunking, if I happen to be out of it, I can confidently reach for the California Olive Ranch bottle.
I will buy this again...a good product at a good value.
Mild-tasting and slightly fruity, California Olive Ranch's Everyday Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a very "classic, middle of the road olive flavor" (Megan) with a "light, grassy scent and mild taste" (Claudia). We found it to have a clean, simple flavor that wasn't overpowering and is a great option for everything from roasting vegetables to baking and bread-dipping.

What reviewers didn't like

A bit expensive.
It costs more than mediocre oils from industrial bottlers.
Yes, it’s a little more expensive than other omnipresent brands on shelves that claim to be from somewhere in Italy (but are more than likely not), but what you’re getting is quality, consistency, and the knowledge of exactly where your olive oil came from.
The top was defective.
