What reviewers liked

Versatile: usable for cutting, drawing, embossing and foiling, has an integrated scanner and its different features. It supports SVG files. Has possibility of use of vinyl rolls. The machine is usable without a computer. On screen editing possibility of the designs.
The Brother ScanNCut family of electronic cutting devices combines the functionality of a craft cutter with a built-in scanner. Other enhancements include a higher resolution (600 dpi) and Auto Blade technology. With this latter feature the blades automatically adjust to the material thickness, without any manual adjustment.
The biggest plus side of the Brother SDX125E is the fact that it blends the functionality of a craft cutter and a scanner into a single device. This can yield some cost-saving as the purchase other most craft cutters don’t include a scanner. Being able to cut thicker materials doesn’t hurt either as your creative freedom becomes less limited.
The scanner on the SDX125 is the biggest point of difference when comparing this machine to the Cricut or Silhouette machines. You can scan in your own images and convert them into cut files directly on the machine. It also has a large 5 inch LCD touch screen where you can create and edit SVGs without the need of your computer. That’s one of the many benefits of the DX – you don’t need a computer to use it! This machine comes with hundreds of built in designs and fonts, and comes with free access to the Scan N Cut software/app for computer and mobile, called CanvasWorkspace, and has all the design features you’re going to need.
The Brother ScanNCut SDX125e is an impressive cutting machine. It’s loaded with features that the Cricut Maker has no counterpart to, such as its scanner and LCD interface. You’ll also find a lot more free designs to get you started.

What reviewers didn't like

Cons: It is impossible to use mats from other machines with this one. High price of the machine.
There are a few who have expressed displeasure for a few reasons. The first is the manual. The device has no prepackaged manual, so you must browse online to find one. The second is tiny details that can make the machine inoperable. For example, should you install the blade after the machine is started, it doesn’t operate well. Finally, finding mats for the cutter seems to be an issue, and there’s little point in owning one if this problem exists. Note, however, that you do need to have a read through the manual, which must be downloaded online, as operating it isn’t intuitive at first.
