Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Speed can be changed during use, which keeps the blade from binding if cutting gets rough.
With 7 speed settings, this jigsaw allows you to choose the blade velocity that is perfect for whatever project you are taking on, ensuring optimal results.
Thanks to the seven position speed dial which is integrated into the trigger that enhances the easy and incredible application. The lock on button is strategically placed to enhance prolonged use without the need to hold onto the trigger.
It provides the tool-free blade change mechanism minimizing the interval time during the process.
One great thing you’ll notice is its 6 amp motor that can produce up to 3,200 SPM (strokes per minute). This is one benefit of having a corded jigsaw as it can deliver more power even with less sophisticated resources.
One great feature is that it will accept both T-Shank blades as well as U-Shank blades and is equipped for tool-less blade changes. I could not find any official information on the beveling capabilities of this jigsaw but many reviewers said it will bevel up to 45° and in looking at the shoe this does appear to be the case.
The PCE345 allows for toolless blade changes and can accommodate both T-Shank and U-Shank blades. It is also fantastic for long work periods as it includes protracted grips on the handles for comfort.
The saw’s speed can be changed on the fly, which is yet another plus for this machine.
We like the “lock-on” button and the fact it has orbital power. There are four settings in that department which is even better when you factor in that variable speed trigger system.
It has keyless blade change mechanism saves you time, and a lock-on button helps prevent fatigue during long projects.
One of the best things about the PCE345 from Porter Cable is that it’s easy to use and control. The front of and the handle are covered in a comfortable rubber over-mold grip for greater comfort and control. The lock on button makes it easier to use for long stretches of time without having to continually hold the button down.
The foot easily adjusts to any of 4 bevel angles for precise cutting, and the LED light provides a clear view of the area you are cutting.
The thing which I like the most is, it has a 4-inch cut depth which really helps you to deal with a variety of materials.
This jigsaw offers protracted grips which give you the comfortability that you can work for hours tirelessly. There is a LED light attached to guide you through.
As far as the security features are concerned, the lock-on button system holds the blade firmly and it wouldn’t work unless you disable it. The same system also brings the required stability during work and has everything which you would want from your jigsaw at home.
This product has n easy blade changing system. You just have to take the old blade out and replace it with a new one without any additional tools required.
It boasts amazing consistency even in prolonged use.
The speed lock-on feature of the PCE345 is one of its main draws. Hitting the lock-on button creates a lot of stability when you’re working on intricate cutting patterns or just very long cuts.
There is a locking control you can use when you want to maintain the speed continuously. This is useful when you want to ensure that you get consistently sized cuts.
I like the heavy duty motor on the PORTER-CABLE PCE345 6-Amp Jig Saw.The motor runs on 6-amp, making the jigsaw capable of cutting through almost anything.

What reviewers didn't like

Doesn't quite have the power of the Makita 4350FCT or the Bosch.
Requires proper application for excellent results.
Close proximity of speed control knob and trigger.
Some had issues with the saw cutting square and with not holding the blades firmly but those were few.
Unfortunately, is not equipped with a dust blower.
Doesn't quite have the power of the Makita 4350FCT or the Bosch.
The speed dial is tough to access.
There are been some reports of alignment problems with the blade.
There have been some complaints from people who say the quick change mechanism is not sturdy enough, but the only overall concern for most people will be that the chassis design does not provide ergonomic support, so extended use is likely to cause a degree of muscle fatigue.
Not so accurate like other expensive jigsaws.
There are shortcomings though, where the speed control knob and the trigger are too close to each other resulting in troublesome speed control. And no onboard blade storage is included so you might need to work with extra care.
Minimum speed range is poor.
Blade isn’t squared with the base.
Some users have complained about the difficulty in adjustment of blades.
It has No LED light.
The finger switch is overly sensitive.
