What reviewers liked

High quality and affordable. Baratza products are hard to beat for the price. Great value.
Works like a charm right out of the box. Grinds are uber consistent. I’ve used it for a chemx, moka pot, drip pot, and french press - all came out perfect.
This grinder was designed to be a true beginner’s tool. It’s not going to offer the fancy conveniences of the higher-priced barista favorites, but it doesn’t compromise on the quality like other inexpensive grinders.
A basic model with a straight-forward design that comes at a mid-range price. On/off switch is easy to use.
It’s a reliable, straightforward tool—there’s almost no learning curve—that takes up only a modest square of counter space. It’s also super easy to clean and maintain, meaning it’ll be an investment you can rely on morning after morning.
The Baratza Encore burr grinder is affordable considering it packs 40 coarseness settings to supply a wide range of coffee types and brewing styles

What reviewers didn't like

I grind Starbucks French Roast. This grinder clogs before I can get one hopper of grounds. The grinder seems well-built, it is heavy and very solid, but it won't grind coffee beans.
However, it is much louder than I expected it to be and a small amount of grounds always falls behind the catch bin so every time you empty the bin it makes a mess on your counter.
The grind remains consistent throughout until you reach the settings #35 to #40. At maximum coarseness, the grinds are noticeably inconsistent, and the particles are way too big even for a French Press.
The dosing unit is difficult to use, and the motor is noisy.
While it can’t produce a fine enough grind for serious espresso enthusiasts, its output is consistent enough for a serviceable shot and should satisfy anyone’s filter coffee needs.
It grinds beans slowly. It also lacks any extra features such as a timer, screen or scale.
-
Might take some time to get used to the 40 settings
Hopper size leaves something to be desired
When you try to grind more coarsely, the grind won’t be uniform.
