Expert Reviews

What experts liked

Titanium plates are the latest advance in hair straightener technology. While I always advise against going for metal plates and recommend ceramic to anyone who asks, titanium is different. This metal is the best-known conductor of negative ions. These charged oxygen atoms neutralize the positive ions which cause frizz. So, if the weather turns your hair into a haystack, these BaByliss pro ionic hair straighteners might just be your answer.
The styling tool has 50 heat settings, with a maximum temperature of 450 degrees. That makes it an excellent choice for both fragile hair that needs lower temperatures and for more resilient locks, like thick curls, that need more heat to achieve the same results. This professional-level hair straightener is unique in that it combines a ceramic heater — that helps it heat up in a flash — with titanium plates that will smooth down even the most unruly of flyaways.
- Bustle
It has a 1” wide titanium plates which is the current fad in the flat iron industry and is the biggest selling point of this product because titanium is a good conductor, it is fairly non-reactive, easy to clean, and is strong as well (will not easily wear or tear).
- IMBB
The wide plates and high heat work together to provide you with a deeper heat penetration, which allows you to gather thicker pieces of hair for straightening. This will boost the speed of your straightening, and ultimately, it’ll get you out of your house faster in the morning. You won’t be late for work because you’ve spent an hour sectioning and slowly straightening your hair with an inferior flat iron.
Its sleek design, ability to heat up in just seconds, fifty temperature settings and its long extended plates are what makes this styling iron an excellent fit for your hair.
You can achieve a really sleek and smooth finish and this is because of the top-quality titanium-plated plates. These plates disperse the moisture in your hair throughout the hair shafts by emitting infrared and negative ions. This helps to minimize heat damage that many irons can cause.

What experts didn't like

The only things which let it down for me are that some reviewers say it’s not great for people with coarse or thick hair and I really do wish it had an auto shut-off feature!
It is expensive and that is a major letdown for some of us. It is not available in drugstore and must be bought online or stores like Ulta. It does not have a mechanical lock and that makes it less travel friendly.
- IMBB
As the plates heat up, the outside gets hot. You might need to use gloves when styling. It lacks an auto shut-off function.
One of the negatives of this straightener is that it retains heat so well that the area you hold it with also gets super hot. Some customers have warned that you have to be really careful not to burn yourself on the handle section.
