Expert Reviews

What experts liked

It took about nine days for the skin peeling to stop entirely, and my feet were left looking and feeling supersoft.

By the 14-day mark, my feet had finally stopped peeling. And, I’ve got to give it to Baby Foot—my soles felt soft as can be (or, rather, as soft as adult feet can feel, because, admittedly, they didn’t feel like a baby’s). Even still, I was intrigued by the results because, in addition to the texture of my feet, they had a new slightly-pink vitality that made them look like an infant's.

Baby Foot achieves what it purports to do: It completely metamorphosed my feet from rough and unsightly to insanely smooth and, dare I say, pretty. My feet are officially ready for summer.
Since Baby Foot is only removing dead skin, not living tissue, it is not traumatizing the skin in any way or encouraging calluses to build up faster. Not only is it more effective than any other treatment I’ve tried, it’s also way easier than filing, and cheaper than a pedicure. The results are also long-lasting. Unlike other foot treatments, which require daily product applications or buffing sessions, this is something that you only need to use every few months. It’s that intense.
Customers rave the product is "revolutionary" and its results are "remarkable." It took about 3-4 days for my feet to stop molting after the first signs of dead skin, but when they did, my feet felt and looked better than they had in a very long time.
I talked to Lifestyle Podiatry podiatrist Dennis Shavelson, D.P.M. to find out why this product has such a dramatic outcome. He explained that the gel inside the bootie contains salicylic acid and alpha hydroxyl acids (like citric, glycolic, and lactic). These two forms of mild-to-moderate peeling agents work together to penetrate the different layers of the skin.

What experts didn't like

At first my skin hardened in the trouble areas, but it didn’t really peel. One day I noticed some of the skin exfoliating and flaking off. But other than that, I only saw light peeling throughout the sides of my feet and minimal flaking on the top—nothing drastic or alarming. It all happened over nine days and didn’t really diminish my calluses or trouble areas.

Correa advises caution, as skin types—even on your feet—vary. “I don't recommend the Baby Foot Peel simply because when it comes to skin and calluses there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach,” she says. “Not all dead skin is meant to be removed. By using a peel that targets all areas, you're risking hyper-sensitivity to the already healthy areas of your foot.” What’s more, she says that she’s personally against foot peels because self-diagnosing your feet at home could cause you to accidentally confuse skin abnormalities like psoriasis, eczema, and warts with normal calluses.
- Byrdie
You’re going to be slightly horrified when the peeling process begins. As a journalist who did a deep dive into the reviews about Baby Foot ahead of time and who fully understood the good, bad and ugly of the product, I was still taken aback when the skin on my feet came off in large swaths.
Each box comes with instructions, but they can be a bit confusing. Before you start, you may want to remove any nail polish you’re wearing, because the acids will destroy the shine and make it look dull.
You must brace yourself for a lot what I can best describe as an oddly satisfying amount of dead skin peeling off your foot as if it’s grated cheese. Yes, it’s gross...
The tape didn't really hold the plastic bootie together, but you can apply the tape to your ankles to get a better hold. And the best way to keep them in place is to wear socks over the booties. While the socks do keep it secure, your foot still slips around on the gel within the bootie. So you have to walk carefully during the 60-minute treatment to ensure you don't slip and fall.

Overview

Do your feet sometimes feel dry and itchy, no matter how much you try to take care of them? That flaky and scaly skin can be both uncomfortable and unsightly, so it’s important to take care of your feet using foot masks. After all, if you want to wear sandals or shoes with no socks socks without feel conscious about the state of your feet, it’s important to get the right products to help you feel and look your best.

Foot masks have many benefits. They can help to take away foot odor and leave your feet smelling fresh and clean. They exfoliate the skin, in addition to smoothing it out and moisturizing it. Not only that, foot masks promote the peeling of old skin on your feet, leaving new and baby-soft skin behind. Plus, some foot masks actually help to detox the body by drawing out impurities from the skin while increasing cell turnover.

When selecting a foot mask, it’s important to check the ingredients list so you can get a good idea of what is in the mask. Look for alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or fruit enzymes if your feet are in rough shape and you need to see a major shedding effect from the mask. Keep in mind that these ingredients will have your feet shedding for at least a week, so you will need to accommodate for that. If you have just a little bit of dryness on your feet, then go for foot masks which contain moisturizing butters and oils. These will help to soften and repair your skin without causing a lot of shedding.
