Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

The AmpliFi HD router's design is like no other on this planet. The 3.9-inch white cube has neither switches nor external antennas, and it looks more like an alarm clock than a piece of networking gear. In fact, it's so nice-looking that you don't need to hide it.
This impressive performance also means you may not need the MeshPointHDs signal boosters unless you have a very large house.
There’s the fact that despite using multiple Wi-Fi devices, each of which has two Wi-Fi bands, you don’t ever have to worry about connecting to each band separately. The system takes care of everything.

What reviewers didn't like

One downside is that there's no setup software for either a PC or a Mac.
While most of the design is fantastic, we’re not too sold on the MeshPointHD designs, as they look a little ungainly compared to the rest of the setup.
Meanwhile, the router has very little in the way of extra software features too. There’s no built in antivirus, USB sharing, and so on. It can be configured to function in a bridge mode, however, where it just acts as an access point rather than a router.
