What reviewers liked

The most affordable Kindle gets a subtle but worthwhile design upgrade (it's slimmer, lighter and less angular).
-
The Amazon Kindle, or all-new Kindle as Amazon calls it, is the most basic and affordable ereader the company sells, coming in at just £59.99/$79.99 (about AU$105).
Judging battery life on a Kindle is tough, because they’re all so good. These are devices that shouldn’t be charged every day or every night, but every month.
This E Ink device is lightweight and easy to use for hours, includes a touch-screen display, and offers Goodreads integration and FreeTime Unlimited.
Capable of storing thousands of books like higher-end models.
Weighing a mere 5.7 ounces and measuring 6.3 x 4.5 x 0.36 inches, the 2016 Kindle is light and compact enough to allow for long, comfortable reading sessions, even if you’re holding it with one hand. It feels surprisingly sturdy, too.
The Amazon Kindle E-Reader 6″ is expressly designed for distraction-free reading purposes You won’t get any push notifications or email alerts while you are reading books so you can focus on the task at hand

What reviewers didn't like

One key missing feature is the integrated light found in the step-up.
-
It has no backlight.
The Paperwhite is a more complete option.
However, you will have to go without a backlight and forgo superslick construction.
The resolution is only 167ppi compared to other models 300ppi.
The device’s janky text can be hard on the eyes, especially in dim light or under lamp light. And that leads me to my greatest complaint about the All-New Kindle: Its lack of backlighting.
The Amazon Kindle E-Reader 6″ is not compatible with any media content apart from regular text documents.
