Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Its bright screen has no noticeable glare and has excellent viewing angles for watching streaming video and view web content.
There’s not a lot of flex to the case, and the double-jointed wraparound hinge works really well.
Design cues from the hybrid-laptop space are making their way to budget devices, but Chrome OS is still based on a desktop browser, and making the browser full screen doesn't make it any easier to navigate bookmarks, or scoot around websites designed to be clicked with a mouse.
-
For a chromebook, the R 11 is fast, thanks to its 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3150 processor and 4GB of memory, in addition to the speedy SSD loading times. It boots up in about 5 seconds, and is perfectly capable of running a few Web apps at once and streaming video.

What reviewers didn't like

he plastic exterior can feel a little cheap, which almost borders on flimsy when you factor in its light weight.
It’s plenty wide, but not terribly tall, which can leave your finger hitting the edges a lot during normal usage.
The Chromebook R 11 has an 11.6-inch display, with a lowly 1,366x768-pixel resolution. That low resolution disappoints, but it's right in line with most of the Chromebook ecosystem.
-
There's no key backlighting, though that's not unusual for an inexpensive system.
