As a store that’s been around since 1858, Macy’s not only has long, rich history in this country, but the nationwide department store chain has plenty of locations throughout the U.S., making it convenient to shop their stores. Plus, there’s always the option to shop online, too.

From clothing to home decor, appliances to furniture and housewares, there’s a little something for everyone.

If you’re a fan of the department store so many know and love, then you won’t want to miss these opportunities to save even more money the next time you decide to do a little retail therapy.

1. Designer Clothing Deals

If you shop the department store at the right time, you can find some incredible buys on high-end designer clothing and home items.

“In recent years, we’ve seen suits from Kenneth Cole and Sean John for as little as $50, Michael Kors handbags from $35 and Tommy Hilfiger towels from $2,” Benjamin Glaser, features editor with DealNews, told Philly.com

2. Cosmetic Deals

After speaking with a cosmetics representative at a local Macy’s store, you might be surprised to learn that the store will offer full refunds or exchanges on most of their cosmetics, even if they’ve been slightly used. Meaning, if you purchased the wrong color of foundation, it’s OK to bring it back to the store so you can shop for better options. Or if that shade of lipstick is just too dark, you can return it or exchange it for a shade that better suits your preferences.

3. One Day Sale Deals

If you watch TV, then you’ve probably heard a commercial for one of Macy’s One Day Sales at least once. They happen frequently, but what that means for consumers are big savings in the range of 40-65 percent off. Sign up for Macy’s emails or texts in order to find out when the next One Day Sale is happening (plus stay in the know on other coupons and sales), which brings us to our next point…

4. Coupons!

Macy’s rolls out some fantastic coupons, including coupons for $10 off a $25 purchase, 20% off your entire purchase and even shipping deals.

There is an entire section of the store’s website dedicated to these offers, so just make sure to check out the promotions available before heading to your local store or shopping online.

Signing up for Macy’s texts or emails lets you stay on top of the latest offerings, and as a bonus, they’ll even give you a coupon good for 15% off your next purchase of $100 or more, just for signing up.

5. Clearance Deals

According to TipHero, Macy’s is one of the few department stores known to mark down in-season merchandise as early as 4-6 weeks before the season ends. This means you can purchase that cute bathing suit you’ve had your eye on mid-summer or that winter coat that fit perfectly while it’s still blustery outside.

Also worth noting, most of the Macy’s stores I’ve been to have a clearance area they call “Last Act.”

There you’ll find designer and name-brand dresses, suits, jackets, work attire and more for as much as 90% off. If you hit the store just right, occasionally there will be deals on “Last Act” items, where you can take an additional percentage off of the already rock-bottom pricing.

I’ve purchased INC brand trousers for less than $5 and a Calvin Klein shirt for less than $10. While there is a “Last Act” section of their website, I’ve personally had much better luck just browsing the racks of the in-store clearance area.

6. Compare Prices Online And In Store For Even Greater In-Store Savings

Like we’ve noticed with other retailers, the online price of an item may differ from the price of that same item in-store.

But according to The Krazy Coupon Lady, if there’s a better deal on Macys.com for the same item you’re eyeing in store, you can show the cashier the better online price from Macys.com and they’ll match it.

Even better, Macy’s will price-match most other department stores’ online and in-store prices, so long as you bring proof of that price within 10 days of your purchase. (Big box stores like Costco and online retailers like Amazon do not qualify for price-matching, however.)

7. Save With Rebates

Did you know that the department store releases new rebates each and every month on their website?

TheKrazyCouponLady.com says that you can expect on average about 20 new rebates per month, with the average value of each rebate around the ballpark of $20.

Even better, you can combine rebates and coupons!

8. Take Advantage Of The Semi-Annual Sales

Be on the lookout for Macy’s Semi-Annual sales, which usually take place in January and August. Most of the items in the store will have a percentage taken off the ticket price ranging from 10-75%, and the company will usually put out a coupon code that can be used in conjunction with the sale prices.

9. Shop With Ebates

Ebates is a rebate website and app that gives you money back when you make purchases online. It’s free to sign up and all you need to do is visit Ebates.com, then click through to the retailer and you’ll be eligible for cash back based on what you spend. Ebates is currently offering up to 6% cash back on Macy’s purchases, and the site also serves as a nice on-stop-shop to see all available coupons.
