LuLaRoe Will Refund Customers Who Received Defective Leggings

The online legging company LuLaRoe has been having a rough go of it lately. After being slapped with a class-action lawsuit alleging that its leggings come with significant defects and massive amounts of bad press, the company is finally paying up. Customers who have received torn or defective leggings can finally get some of their money back.

The company, which is only four years old, said it will issue full refunds to customers who purchased defective merchandise between January 1, 2016 and April 24, 2017. LuLaRoe salespeople have to buy their own stock, which led to serious contention over returns and refunds in the past.

The refunds come out of the company’s new “Make Good” program, which will issue refunds in the form of gift cards, personal check or cash. You can request your refund through your salesperson, but if you are no longer in touch (or they are unable to help you), you can just use LuLaRoe’s new “Make Good” website. You can claim a refund through July 31, 2017.

“We created the “MAKE GOOD Program” to meet consumer expectations that our products be free of defects in materials and workmanship, and restore the confidence and value they, and the Independent Fashion Retailers, hold in LuLaRoe,” writes the company on the refund website.

But given all the negative attention surrounding the young company, it might be difficult to claw back from this road bump. A private Facebook group dedicated to bad experiences with LuLaRoe has more than 26,000 members, up from a few thousand just a few months ago.

“We listened and we heard the feedback from social media and our consumers and even from our retailers,” LuLaRoe CEO Mark Stidham told Business Insider in an interview. “If someone has spent money on one of our products, we want them to feel that they got value for that money they spent.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if anyone wants to buy more leggings after this upset.
