Look for the DWYM seal for products that are the best in a category.

Toys all come with suggested age ranges, and paying attention to those is essential. Some toys are more suitable for younger children while older ones may not find them interesting or engaging. Younger children tend to gravitate towards toys that are brightly colored and easy to use. Toys with small parts or easily removable batteries should be reserved for children who won’t put these in their mouths.

Some Paw Patrol toys use various technologies. It would be challenging for a young child to operate some of this technology without adult supervision. Ensure the child you’re buying for has an adult to help. Another consideration is if the child is able to read, as some of these toys require reading to get the most fun out of them. No matter what toy you choose, the Paw Patrol fan in your life will love it.

What to Look For

  • Read the age range suggestions for toys, which will help guide your decision.
  • Make sure the toy has an off button if it is noise-making because there’s nothing worse than a toy that won’t turn off.
  • Look for toys that double as educational toys; learning can be fun!
  • Remember to buy batteries if the toy requires them.
  • Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for how to keep the toy clean.
  • Small parts may pose choking risks. Keep these out of reach from infants and small children.

Paw Patrol airs on Nick Jr, a sister channel to Nickelodeon, one of the highest-rated channels for kids. The name Nickelodeon is used because, in the early days of movies, there were theaters called nickelodeons which only charged 5 cents for admission.

The channel first aired in 1977 in Columbus, Ohio. It consisted of educational shows for 12 hours a day, with no commercials. By the 1990s, Nickelodeon was the number one rated channel for kids, airing cartoons and live-action shows for children of all ages. Their morning lineup was aimed at younger kids and featured mainly educational cartoons. This younger audience eventually got its very own channel named Noggin in 1999.

Noggin premiered a host of new shows geared toward the preschool-age audience. They focused on learning through play and fun, and the channel wildly succeeded. In 2009, Noggin became Nick Jr. as we know it today. Long-running shows like Blue’s Clues were aired on Nick Jr. for many years. Today we have shows like Paw Patrol, which teach responsibility, empathy and the fun of learning.
