Twelve years ago, the Smithsonian magazine started encouraging museums to offer free admission one day a year. Now, museums across the nation are participating in Museum Day Live on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Tomorrow, your family will be able to explore art, history and more in participating museums. For free! Did your weekend just get more exciting or what?
Check out the Smithsonian magazine website to find a participating museum near you. It looks like most museums taht you’d want to visit are participating. Museum-heavy New York has 103 locations participating, for example. Florida has 91 museums offering free admission, 41 museums in Ohio are on-board, 87 in Texas, 12 in Nevada, 27 in Indiana, and the list goes on.
Visit Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live site to get a full list of participating museums, and be sure to reserve your tickets in advance (you can either download and print them or save them to your phone). You can register for yourself plus one guest, so if you are a four-person household, you’ll need two people to register.
Have fun museum-hopping on Sept. 24, folks!
