If you haven’t joined Sephora’s loyalty program, there’s a good reason you might want to join before your next birthday. Not only is membership free, but during your birthday month, Sephora’s Beauty Insider members can stop by any store location to snag a free mini beauty bundle.
For 2019, Beauty Insiders can choose from two options. The first is a Kat Von D makeup bundle that includes a waterproof mini black tattoo liner in “Trooper Black,” a mini setting powder, and a mini Studded Kiss lipstick trio sampler in “Lolita,” “Vampira,” and “Outlaw” colors.
Or if you’d rather have a bundle featuring beauty products, another option is a Drunk Elephant moisturizing and cleansing set, consisting of a mini Protini Polypeptide Cream and a mini Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser.
No purchase is necessary if you stop by to get your birthday freebie in person. You simply have to provide your Beauty Insider email address at the checkout of any Sephora or a Sephora inside of a JCPenney store. However, to have the birthday bundle shipped to you, a purchase from Sephora.com is necessary.
Keep in mind that the birthday bundle is only available during your birthday month and/or within two weeks before or after your actual birthday, so you’ll want to set a reminder on your phone to make sure you don’t forget to pick up your freebie in time.
If you shop at Sephora a lot, you might want to inquire about the VIB and Rouge level memberships. To qualify for VIB, you have to spend a minimum of $350 per calendar year; a Rouge-level VIB spends $1,000 per calendar year at Sephora. For being a high-level customer, you receive additional perks such as access to exclusive sales.
For example, for the free birthday bundle, VIB and Rouge members can currently choose between the Kat Von D set, the Drunk Elephant set, or a third option: an Urban Decay bundle that includes a mini setting spray and a mini moondust eyeshadow in “Starlight.”
Or if VIB or Rouge members want to skip the bundle all together, they can choose to receive an extra 250 points that they can save and use to redeem other rewards. While a lot of trial-size beauty and makeup products can be redeemed year-round for 100 and 250 points, there are also rewards that you can save up for, like in-person beauty parties that range from 4,000 to 10,000 points.
However, while you earn regular points based on dollars spent, the birthday bundles are totally free! And that can make any birthday just a little bit sweeter.
