Looking for something fun, hands-on and creative for your little one this summer? Home Depot is here to help!
On Saturday, June 3, Home Depot is offering a free workshop for children to build a wooden tic-tac-toe game to play with family and friends. Once complete, the game board can be customized with paint and stickers.
For participating in the project, kids get more than just the game: They’ll also receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron and a commemorative pin (while supplies last, of course). Your child must be present in the store to participate.
The workshop runs from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and interested parties should register online.
It’s not just children’s workshops offered at your local Home Depot, however. They also offer free outings for do-it-yourselfers of all ages. Do-It-Yourself workshops offer expert instruction to help customers complete projects with confidence, while Do-It-Herself workshops combine demonstrations and hands-on learning to help women tackle home improvement projects.
The Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-Herself workshops offered this summer are below:
Bottle Opener Game (June 10): You’ll be shown how to use carpenter’s tools to measure and cut wood for your bottle opener that doubles as a game. You’ll also learn how to safely use common project tools, including a circular saw, brad nailer and drill. At the end of the demonstration, you can shop for the materials you need to build your own bottle opener game.
Concrete Serving Tray (June 15): This demonstration workshop will show you how to cut wood and mix concrete to create a serving tray. You’ll also learn how to safely use tools like a circular saw, drill and sanding block. At the end of the demonstration, you can shop for the materials you need to make a cool concrete serving tray.
Edible & Raised Garden Beds (June 17): You’ll learn to build a raised garden bed and about the varieties of edible plants for sale at Home Depot. You’ll also be introduced to products and tools that will help you up your gardening game.
Installing Wall Tile (June 24): This workshop will show you the tools and supplies you need to install your own wall tile. You’ll also learn how to create a plan for tiling and preparing the wall before you get started, as well as how to mortar and seal.
