Flight prices can be a huge factor in choosing to take a vacation or not. So, it’s nice to know that during the summer months (a.k.a. prime vacation season) airlines are willing to offer discounts to help you get where you want to go.
United Airlines is offering some affordable flights at the moment, so if you haven’t already booked a trip this season, this could be all the motivation you need to do so.
When you book by July 6, you can score deals as low as $59 for a one way flight. The most expensive option? Only $205. Hey—not bad, right?
The potential for savings is always greatly appreciated, but it’s also important to point out that there are some serious stipulations that go along with getting deals like this.
For instance, you must travel between Aug. 22 and Dec. 16, 2017 to be eligible for the lower flight price.
If you want to snatch that $59 deal for instance, you’ll have to be prepared to leave from San Francisco and arrive in Seattle. But, there are flight options departing from cities all over the U.S., so the list is definitely worth checking out. You know, just in case they apply to an airport near you.
Purchasing one of these flights will mean you’re traveling in either Basic Economy or Standard Economy, and restrictions apply.
The basic economy fares, in particular, can be tricky. These are new fares offered by United and they haven’t been getting the best reviews.
In essence, you are literally paying for just the flight. On basic economy, you can’t pick your seat or sit by your travel companions. You can’t bring a carry-on either, unless you’re willing to pay a fee—all you can bring is a small personal item (like a purse). These fares are nonrefundable and you can’t make any changes after you’ve book your ticket. Also, you must check-in at the ticket counter—no online or mobile options here.
You can see the full list of restrictions on United’s website.
So, you’ll need to be flexible with how and where you’re willing to travel, but hey—at least you were able to save on the actual price of the flight.
