Wal-Mart is well known for its competitive low prices on everything from groceries to clothing to housewares, but did you know there are ways you can get even more off of their everyday low prices?

It’s true and we’re here to share those tips with you. Here are nine ways to save even more at Wal-Mart:

1. Take Advantage Of Wal-Mart’s Price Match Guarantee

Wal-Mart will price match any current published sale. So, if you have an ad from another retailer in hand, all you have to do is show it to the cashier when you’re checking out. This can be beneficial if you spot several good sale items at multipleretailers, but you don’t want to take the time to trek to each individual store.

Now, we’ve been hearing conflicting reports, but the store you’re price matching with probably needs to be in the same region as your local Wal-Mart, so you might want to call before you shop.

Another way to take advantage of Wal-Mart’s price-match guarantee is to compare prices of other online retailers. Again, by informing the cashier of the sale price you’ve spotted, they should be able to make the adjustment for you.

2. Shop Online

Many large retailers’ prices vary depending on whether you shop online or in store. Compare Wal-Mart’s in-store prices to Walmart.com, and you might be able to save a few bucks.

If you decide to order online, just select “in-store pickup” when checking out, and many times your purchase will be available for pick up with 24 hours or less at the location you’ve selected.

3. Use The Wal-Mart App

There’s the potential to save a lot of money if you use Wal-Mart’s app. You’ll be able to compare in-store and online prices, making sure you get the best deal no matter how you shop.

But, what we think is the best feature about the Wal-Mart app is the Savings Catcher, which lets you scan your receipt and Wal-Mart will then compare prices at local retailers, even including current sale items. If the app finds your item at a lower price, they’ll offer you the difference on a gift card.

Not only can you compare in-store and online prices, you’ll also be able to view the weekly ad on the app as well.

4. Browse For Clearance Merchandise

While some stores have a particular for putting items on clearance, Wal-Mart tends to mark down items every day of the week. That means good deals are in store for you whenever you shop.

If you’re not sure where to find your local Wal-Mart’s clearance section, ask a sales associate. We’ve seen clearance right at the front of the store, hidden along end caps in different sections, or even in clearance “rooms” in the front of the store, where they might be easily missed if you weren’t looking for them.

5. Use Coupons And Even Get Money Back

Wal-Mart has good prices, but that doesn’t mean you can’t also take advantage of coupons. To start, Wal-Mart has an entire section of its website dedicated to helping you save with coupons on a variety of items.

And, if you find a coupon that is greater than the price of the item, Wal-Mart will actually refund you the difference or apply the difference to other items you’re purchasing.

6. Look For Marked-Down Baked Goods

If you’re shopping for groceries, swing by the bakery to see if there’s any marked down bread, pastries or other baked goods. Just like most any grocery store, Wal-Mart marks down day-old bakery items. There’s hardly a difference from the fresh stuff, aside from the price.

7. Purchase Your Prescriptions At Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart has a prescription program where most generic prescriptions are just $4 per month. Before you switch pharmacies, make sure the medications you or your family members are taking are on the list of $4 prescriptions on Wal-Mart’s website.

8. Shop Early For Groceries

You know that saying, “Early bird gets the worm”? Well, in this case, it’s early bird gets some great deals on groceries! According to GoBankingRates, shopping in the morning for groceries at Wal-Mart could save you money on one of the most expensive items on your list: meat.

“Normally, by 8 a.m., the meat department has discounted their meat, and you can grab some great deals,” Dian Farmer of GroceryShopForFree.com told GoBankingRates.

9. Shop Wal-Mart’s $1 Deals

While the selection isn’t going to be as expansive as a dollar store, Wal-Mart does have a fairly good section of $1 items, ranging from food to toiletries to greeting cards. If you’re curious to see all that the store offers for under a buck, IHeartTheMart has a handy rolling list of the items, broken down into categories.

The blog even has coupons attached to the products on the list, so you’re more than likely going to be able to score an even better deal than if you were shopping for the same item at a dollar store.
