Target Says goodbye to fashion lines Merona and Mossimo

Target

If you’re a lover of Target fashion, brace yourself for some changes.

The retail chain is revamping its merchandise lineup, meaning some of the brands we’ve grown to know and love will disappear from stores. According to the Wall Street Journal, brands including men’s and women’s Merona clothing and men’s Mossimo fashion line will be phased out in the coming months.

Goodbye Merona And Mossimo

Don’t worry, though. As these brands make their exit, new ones will come in to take their place. And, Target isn’t just focusing on changes in the clothing departments. You’ll find new products in accessories and home furnishings, too.

The retailer plans to add at least 12 new clothing, accessories and home decor lines to its stores this fall. These changes come at a time when Target fights to stay relevant in a growing market.

“Our new brands are all about the changing face of our guests,” said Mark Tritton, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “When we took a close look out our existing assortment with this in mind, we saw a disconnect. We knew we’d need to refresh our offerings—and define new ones—so our guests continue to love what they’re discovering at Target and want to keep coming back, again and again.”

Target Introduces Four New Brands

While they have not all been introduced yet, Target has announced four of them:

Project 62

A modern home brand thoughtfully designed for everyday life. These items look to be fashionable as well as functional. Be on the lookout for this new furniture and home accessories series in September 2017.

Target

A New Day

A versatile, mix and match women’s brand. Expect a “modern take on a classic aesthetic and incredible prints and patterns.” You can find A New Day items starting in September 2017.

Target

Goodfellow & Co

A “modern-meets-classic” collection of men’s clothing, accessories and shoes available starting in September 2017.

Target

JoyLab

Target describes this line as activewear meets “edgier, street-fashion vibe.” You can pick up these pieces starting in October 2017.

Target

Target has already replaced Cherokee and Circo with Cat & Jack and Art Class.

Though those brands were doing well on their own, Target wanted to give customers something different.

“Our brands have been solid performers. Take Cherokee and Circo in our kids’ business, for example—they were performing strongly, even in a difficult market,” said Tritton. “But we talked to our guests, looked at the data, and we realized that there was this huge opportunity to create a unique personality and own-able, differentiated point of view.”

There is no word on when Merona and Mossimo will disappear, but if you’re a fan, you may want to start stocking up now before it’s too late.
