Under Hood Fire Risk

What went wrong: Some Ford engines may overheat from a lack of coolant circulation. This can result in a cracked cylinder head, which can increase the risk of fire in the engine compartment. Ford says it’s aware of 29 reports of fire and is recalling 230,000 vehicles.

Vehicles affected by this recall include:

  • 2014 Ford Escape
  • 2014 to 2015 Ford Fiesta ST
  • 2013 to 2014 Ford Fusion
  • 2013 to 2015 Ford Transit Connect

Driveshaft Replacement

What went wrong: At speeds of more than 75 mph, some Ford vehicles may experience driveline vibration caused by a powertrain system resonance condition. This vibration can crack the transmission or driveline components, which can cause vehicles to lose motion while driving or move while in park. Ford says it’s recalled 548 vehicles for this issue.

Vehicles affected by this recall include:

  • Certain 2017 Ford F-450 and F-550 vehicles.

Faulty Airbags

What went wrong: Ford says it was notified by airbag-maker Takata that frontal airbags in some vehicles may not inflate. The automaker says it hasn’t heard of any issues related to this issue but is recalling 32,000 vehicles.
