Looking For A Job? Now You Can Search On Facebook

Searching for jobs just got easier.

Now you can search for a new job while you’re scrolling through your Facebook news feed, thanks to the new “Jobs” feature on the popular social media platform.

Companies in the United States and Canada began posting jobs on Facebook in mid-February.

If you’re a job-seeker, all you have to do is click on the “Jobs” tab on the left side of your news feed. Facebook will automatically populate this tab with jobs in your region.

Or, if there’s a specific company you’d like to work for, head over to their Facebook page and see if they’ve recently listed any open positions.

Facebook made it super easy to apply for jobs, too. If you find a job description that sounds appealing, simply click “Apply Now” and an application window will pop up.

Facebook will fill in some parts of the application using personal details from your Facebook profile. You can review and edit your application before you submit it.

“We know that finding the right talent can be a challenge,” according to Facebook’s blog post announcing the new feature. “Businesses and people already use Facebook to fill and find jobs, so we’re rolling out new features that allow job posting and application directly on Facebook.”

You already spend a good portion of your day scrolling your news feed, why shouldn’t employers try to reach you there, too? It’s a no-brainer.

“This new experience will help businesses find qualified people where they’re already spending their time—on Facebook and on mobile,” according to Facebook.

GeekWire suggests that Facebook’s new feature will pose a threat to Microsoft-owned hiring site LinkedIn, which has 467 million total users compared to Facebook’s 1.8 billion monthly users.

Plus, you may only log in to LinkedIn when you’re actively looking for a job. With Facebook, employers may be able to pique your interest even if you didn’t know you wanted a new job.
