Chipotle is offering employees the chance to earn a business degree

Though there’s no word on how much the program will cost yet, Chipotle said students who enroll can receive up to $5,250 in tuition aid. The program will also offer other benefits, including what the company calls a “personal success coach,” put in place to help assist with program enrollment and applying for federal financial aid.

This isn’t the first time Chipotle has dipped its toes into the educational waters. Last August, the restaurant announced it would be partnering with Guild Education, an organization that helps employees earn a high school, college or graduate degree. Guild Education also enables employees to study English as a second language. Employees who choose to use Guild Education receive affordable education from a network of nonprofit universities and learning providers that offer a wide variety of classes, programs and college degrees.

“The new degree program extends a series of education benefits we’ve been putting in place over the last couple of years to help better equip our employees for success at Chipotle and beyond,” Ells said in a press release.

And Chipotle isn’t the only company helping its employees get their degree. Employees at Starbucks can earn a bachelor’s degree through the online program at Arizona State University, and McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program helps workers earn a high school diploma or a college degree.

“One of the best ways we can help working students succeed is to leverage their real-life experiences and skills,” said Rebecca Murdock, dean of the College of Business at Bellevue University. “With Chipotle’s help, we have built a truly best in class business degree program.”
