Listen up all you weary procrastinators! It’s not too late to save big on holiday gifts!
Here are some of the best products to buy in December, as well as some advice on the best time of the month for purchasing them.
Phew! Can we all breathe a collective sigh of relief? The good news: Toys will be cheap this month. The bad news: Some of the most popular ones may be sold out. But, for all the other must-have toys on Santa’s list, be prepared for retailers to take deep discounts the rest of this month.
And, mark your calendar for December 15. According to online bargain shopping blog, Rather Be Shopping this is the best day to buy toys at big box stores like Toys”R”Us, Target, Amazon and Walmart.
After cooking Thanksgiving supper and scrubbing one too many dishes, maybe you decided you just can’t take one more holiday with that old, clunky dishwasher. Good news: You ought to be able to find one at a good price this month. According to Consumer Reports, most major appliances are on deep discount in December. And, the end of the year is a great time to start fresh and get yourself an energy-efficient model that will save you loads (get it?) in the new year, too.
Think tablets, readers and gaming systems.
Amazon is offering it’s 7-inch Kindle Fire for only $49.99, and there are still more deals to come. During their 12 Days of Deals, electronics and Amazon devices will be the featured deals of the day on Day 9 (December 12).
Rather Be Shopping suggests there are also still plenty of deals to be had on gaming systems, even if you missed out on Black Friday sales.
“Every year over the past eight, we have seen some great deals from Gamestop, Amazon, Walmart, Target and NewEgg in mid-December. In particular, between the 14th and 17th of the month, retailers really offer some attractive incentives to Christmas shoppers,” the blog says.
According to popular deal blog, BlackFriday.com, Walmart is offering some of the best deals on TVs right now—like the deal on this 24-inch Samsung for $147.99. There are bigger deals on bigger sets too, if you want to, say, binge-watch Hallmark Christmas movies on a brand-new 50-inch screen.
Kitchen Goods and Gadgets
December is a great time to stock up on much-needed kitchen items. Sales can be found on everything from pots and pans to servingware and even small kitchen appliances. Need a new mixer to tackle those Christmas cookies? Experts say you should plan to shop on December 16 (this year’s Free Shipping Day) for the very best deals.
As part of their Days of Deals, Dell has several laptops on sale—some as much as $150 off with free shipping. Not to be outdone, HP is offering some pretty sweet deals this month too. Check out their holiday deals with some models selling for nearly half off.
If you are paying full price for clothing in December you just aren’t trying. Stores like Gap, Old Navy and Macy’s are falling all over themselves to offer bigger and better discounts. And, don’t forget free shipping day on December 16. On this day, hundreds of retailers will offer big discounts, plus free shipping in time for Christmas.
Need something tiny and shiny for that special someone in your life? December is a great time to purchase jewelry. According to Rather Be Shopping, jewelry stores freeze their prices in the weeks leading up to Christmas day.
