Amazon May Soon Deliver Chipotle And Your Other Faves Right To Your Door

In an era where convenience wins and nothing is ever fast enough, food delivery has gone beyond just the pizza guy. Services like Postmates and UberEATS deliver your lunch or dinner right to your door. And now, they have some pretty big competition: Amazon.

The mega online retailer announced a new partnership with Olo, a popular food ordering service used by restaurants. This means the Olo system will now be available through Amazon Restaurants.

Is there anything Amazon won’t deliver? Probably not.

Olo’s clients include chain restaurants that don’t offer their own delivery service, like Applebees, Chipotle, Red Robin and Jamba Juice. Sure, this new deal won’t be as good for our health as their recent purchase of Whole Foods.  But when we’re hungry, it’s nice to know the online retailer can help!

“We’re thrilled to work with Amazon to provide Olo’s base of restaurant customers with a new delivery sales channel that drives increased visibility,” Noah Glass, founder & CEO of Olo, said in a press release. “Amazon’s obsession with providing great customer and restaurant experience supports the evolving expectations and behaviors of today’s consumer. We’re excited to connect more of Olo’s restaurant brands with Amazon Restaurants.”

Amazon Restaurants is available to Prime members, making this new partnership yet another addition to the prime service.  This already includes free shipping on certain orders, photo storage and even music and movies. Now, you can add burrito delivery to that list!

“This integration will enable Amazon Restaurants to onboard new restaurants with ease, as well as quickly add more new choices and delivery options for customers,” Gus Lopez, general manager of Amazon Restaurants, said in a press release.

‘Alexa, how about some chips and guac?’

Olo works by phone, web, mobile web, their app and even Alexa-enabled devices. We’re guessing this means we can eventually ask Alexa for some chips and guacamole and it will then show up at our house. What a time to be alive!

While it’s still unclear just what restaurants you’ll be able to order from, Olo currently powers digital ordering and delivery for more than 200 restaurant brands, across 40,000 locations, which means the service will likely be near you in the near future.
